There are no chance meetings. Everyone’s life is full of precise signs left by a temperate or redundant and sometimes bizarre destiny.
The vision of Villa Calvi was a “stroke of lightning”. The state of neglect that surrounded it - the garden an the park were like a piedmont Amazonian jungle – probably could have frightened the majority.
For me they were a challenge and, in the same time, a duty.
Surely the restoration of these important places was, and still is, an adventure. When I brought this monument of our memory to its original dignity, giving the possibility to use it again, it was also a moral duty.
It’s with humility and deference that we have to approach our history, with open mind and soul, with the predisposition to welcome the essence and the soul which is closed inside this vestige.
The Villa originally was a Renaissance court, a real microcosm. The main building was the convergence point of the agricultural life, with the transformation of the fields fruits, and of the cultural life, with the pomp of the nobles with their great feasts and balls.
This is the way that I’m going now (and I hope to act diligently): the reassembly of the agricultural identity with a specialization in biological cereal growing; the proposal to be the protagonist of events, feasts and parties inside the villa; the possibility to give hospitality to cultural and artistic moments inside these revitalized buildings and areas.
Actually, my proposal is a trip in the emotions of the memory: the emotion to live (350 years later) the same sensations of our ancestors, listening to musical notes, to guests’ voices, to the crackling of the fireplaces or going for a walk in the centuries-old park.
I can grant you that these memories will last forever.
